“Pulkan” Hospital in Navoi Region

Development of IT Infrastructure to Improve Patient Care

Numeral recently provided “Pulkan”, a local hospital located in rural Navoi region, with hardware, including computers, UPS (uninterruptible power supply) units to address constant power outages, printers, and more. The initiative came after the Numeral team contacted the hospital and learned of its need for technology.

Built in 2005, the hospital now has a medical staff of over 10 that serves over 4,000 patients. Located in the rural region, it primarily serves low-income people from nearby villages who don’t have access to modern healthcare.

Because of its reliance on paper-based processes, the hospital struggled to not only adequately care for patients, but faced issues with managing its own internal processes. Facing constant power outages, the hospital had poor patient flow while doctors didn’t have access to data that would provide valuable insights into treatment plans. “Pulkan” also regularly struggled with missing medical records due to outdated paper filing systems. There was a clear need for technology enhancements.

When faced with the global COVID-19 pandemic, the hospital was forced into an even more dire medical crisis. Due to an increased number of patients, the hospital experienced longer wait times, greater exposure, and dangerous spread of the disease. Its outdated operations soon became unmanageable and needed technology solutions.

Access to basic technology in hospitals and healthcare organizations provides an opportunity to create a centralized system for both patients and medical staff. Having provided the digital foundation, Numeral is now working with the hospital staff to create a medical database for over 4,000 patients. This initiative will facilitate improvements in real-time patient data and records, effective internal communication, and increased quality and effectiveness in patient care.

Apart from seeing an immediate improvement in the quality of our healthcare services, we’re also seeing an increased flexibility in our internal operations.

The medical staff is slowly adapting to the new digital reality. “Apart from seeing an immediate improvement in the quality of our healthcare services, we’re also seeing an increased flexibility in our internal operations”, commented Shakhobiddin Kulmatov, Chief Medical Officer at “Pulkan”.
